Hill House

Our client acquired an extensive complex of farm buildings on a prominent hill-top, comprising circa 1100m2, and including a 2 storey farmhouse and linked brick and stone traditional barns. The brief was to create a substantial family dwelling of circa 750m2 with the balance of the space converted to B1 employment or an additional dwelling. The design challenge was to achieve an efficient spatial arrangement within the various existing buildings, taking advantage of the site characteristics, outlook and orientation. The architectural approach builds on the traditional character and incorporates overtly contemporary elements as contrasts. The materials and details were carefully considered related to the exposure of the site.

The residential element and initial B1 office was implemented in 2 phases, with the remaining buildings currently in the design and planning stage.
